Versatility
and a remarkable personality are the main features of Vinicius Romão,
a.k.a. DJ Vinnix. Unlike many DJs, who appeared with the growth
of rave parties in Brazil, Vinnix started getting involved with
electronic music early on, when the scene was still considered underground,
allowing him to follow its growth, and form his own personality
and opinion about it.
He
began his career playing drum ‘n bass and breakbeat, influenced
by the British old school style, but continued to search for new
sources of electronic music until in 2001, while in Bahia’s
festival, he discovered psychedelic trance. Vinnix immediately identified
with the style and atmosphere of the trance parties and developed
a deep knowledge of the artists. Only then did he feel prepared
to play psychedelic trance professionally.
He also did a tour over South America where he played at festivals and parties in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Peru, and Bolivia.
His style of music is underground psychedelic trance with futurist atmospheres, groove and funky rhythms with phat bass lines typical of the trance produced in Europe and South Africa.
His
peculiar style, playing songs which are not necessarily focused
in the “commercial” segment, has allowed him to play
in some of the main festivals in Brazil, including Universo Paralello
(where he has played two editions), Tranceformation at the 2006
carnival and and actively participating in the first psychedelic
meeting of Maranhão estate, the Fora do Tempo Festival
His
style varies among the progressive sources, pumping grooves and
textures influenced by a European style, especially German and Scandinavian,
and the full on with futuristic melodies and phat bass lines typical
of the trance produced in England and South Africa.
Enthusiastically
exposing people to new sounds at every possible opportunity, Vinnix
is reaching new heights in his career. In 2007 he was signed as
a label DJ to Free Spirit Records and also intends to start studying
music production at the earliest opportunity.
